Sample cover letter for Full Time position at AECOM

Dear Sir/Madam,

My name is Robin Han and I am currently a MSc Engineering with Finance Student at UCL. I’m writing to express my strong interest in applying for the role of graduates program in AECOM which I saw on the TARGETJOBs.

It was after I graduated from high school that I first became interested in engineering. During the summer vacation, I decided to experience the charm of engineering, and thus I did one-month internship in my father’s factory and went to visit different natural gas liquefaction plant around China. Then I chose to study New Energy Engineering in HUAZHONG University of Science and Technology in China, which is one of the top 5 engineering universities in China. The more I studied about the basic engineering knowledge, the more I want to work as an engineer in the future. Then I joined the 2+2 program and studied as a mechanical engineering student for 2 years in the University of Birmingham, and joined a project about Design, manufacturing, application and assessment of a low-cost accurate air flow measurement system for a multi-cylinder engine, which is the first time that I did the experiment myself. Ultimately, I decided to work as a professional engineer at the start of my career after I gained the first class honor from the University of Birmingham.

There is no doubt that AECOM is one of the best engineering design firms worldwide and the leader in all of the key markets that you serve, including transportation, cost & project management, facilities, environmental, energy, oil and gas, water, high-rise buildings and government. Therefore, I can get the best opportunity, most interesting program and most elaborate training if could get the position. During my master degree, I chose to study engineering with finance to gain some professional knowledge about economy & finance. To better understand the business and the application of the engineering product. In addition, I was educated in two different countries, China and UK, and thus I could use different way of thinking to talk to different people. All of the above make me believe that I could bring some impact with me to AECOM.
