I undertook a project during my second year at university in which I had to learn a new program, ‘STATA’. Stata was used to test the model through various econometric techniques and compute results. Using Stata for the first time was particularly challenging since I was unfamiliar with most the commands. To overcome this and familiarize myself with the software I used a lot of online resources to learn what different commands were and how to use them correctly. The software often produced contradicting results for which I had to see my lecturer to try work out why. She explained to me why it happens and how to correct the problem as well as this she also told me how to improve my structure of the write up and which part needed more detailing. I eventually completed the project successfully and on time.

At Royal Mail I was asked by the manager to lead a group of new employers to carry out certain task. I had a team of 6 colleagues in which I delegated different roles to, explained what to do and how to use the equipment safely. Through the task I would regularly give tips and provide assistance to whoever was struggling whilst keeping my manager informed about the progress. During our breaks I took the opportunity to find out more about my colleagues and how they found it working at Royal mail which I believe helped team morale and made us more comfortable working with each other. We carried out the tasks efficiently within the time period that was allocated to us. This experience allowed me to develop my leadership and communication skills for which will aid me in creating healthy relationships with clients and colleagues at Aon.
