Sample cover letter for Internship position at Airbus

POSITION:

Flight Physics Intern

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering (level 2) at Brunel University. I am writing to express my interest in and enthusiasm for the placement vacancy of Engineering Flight Physics Internship. My experience has equipped me with a multitude of skills. I have a great passion and interest in engineering industry due to my inquisitive nature and problem solving skills. Aerospace Engineering is a field where I can best use my creative mind to develop innovative ideas that could lead towards an improved technology.

I have always had a great curiosity towards the aircraft motion and aerodynamics of the flight. This curiosity led me to observe and compare the flight of an aircraft to that of a bird and inquire what makes an aircraft carry such massive load, balance itself out against gravity despite its size and weight and fly in the direction and orientation desired. Working with Flight Physics Airbus will allow me to strengthen my knowledge in this field and add value to me as an individual.

What appeals me to work for Airbus is ‘theAirbusway’ that combines the following four values: (1) Delivering customer value: In my experience of running my own part time health and beauty business at Govind International, one of our focuses has been listening to customers carefully, identifying their needs and recommending the right products to them. (2) Driving improvement & innovation: I’ve always included creativity in my work and studies. My work at Oyster at the beginning was simply to follow-up customers from their database and do some additional admin work. Once I was simply asked to create an excel sheet to maintain records of maintenance issues. I suggested my manager to instead create a database using access and integrate multiple communication and reporting functions to it. I was allowed to do so, and hence I developed Software for Oyster that is now primarily used for Management. I constantly keep improving it. (3) Self-development: As part of my business, I am subscribed to a self-development program, which involves self-help books, CD’S and business building seminars. I believe the only way to grow in any field is learn. (4) Practicing teamwork: While running my own business at Govind International (detailed in my CV), I was a part of a team. Our team had monthly personal and group goals. I learned from there how to work together as a team, train and motivate other team members and integrate the personal goals into the team goals.

I am especially interested to work in the current project A350XBW as I am amazed by the technology behind it that makes the aircraft 25% more efficient by the use of lightweight composite materials, improved avionics following the A380 and the optimised wing design raising the bar for the entire aircraft market.

To Airbus, I can bring on board various technical and soft skills that I’ve gained from different professional work experiences and university projects, my passion towards the field and an inquisitive and problem solving nature. I am a quick learner. I am an active participant in various engineering societies and science clubs as stated in my CV.

Yours Faithfully,
