Sample cover letter for Internship position at Ally Financial

POSITION:

2015 10-Week Finance Summer Internship Program

October 1, 2014

Ally Financial

500 W Madison St

Chicago, IL 60661

To whom it may concern,

I am expressing my interest in the 2015 10-Week Finance Summer Internship Program. As a junior at Michigan State University, I am attracted to a career in financial services where I can use my knowledge and communication skills to directly help people as well as the company I work for. I believe my courses in the Broad Business School not to mention my past experiences have given me a solid base to build upon for my career. Academics have bolstered my appreciation for financial services and my independent coursework through Breaking Into Wallstreet has greatly enhanced my Microsoft Office proficiency. Being personally familiar with Ally Financial from past career fairs, I was ecstatic to come across this job listing while researching Ally Financial for this year’s Career Gallery.

Through my prior experiences, I believe I possess many of the desired attributes that were mentioned in the job listing. The first-hand client relationships formed and communication workshops that I underwent through my last internship with Chicago Apartment Finders provided me with the opportunity to improve upon my job related assets. Holding positions on the executive council of my fraternity has afforded me the chance to become a leader as well as being part of a team; we solve internal issues that any large group would face. In addition to competent communication it is imperative for interns to build relationships with other employees to advance office morale. During my last internship, I was recognized for my contribution to office atmosphere as well as my work ethic, where I was noted for my saying, “No days off” and by receiving the CAF Culture Award for July 2014. I would believe the skills that expanded through my previous involvements may be an asset to your team.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to scheduling an interview with you to discuss the position as well as why I would be the right fit for your organization. I am confident that my experiences in administrative roles, my previous internship, as well as a student’s understanding will enable me to become a valuable member of your team.

Respectfully,
