Right from the time I understood fashion, I have always been interested in the creation of clothes. When I was working full time in banking, I started learning the complete ins and outs of clothes designing and making by learning professionally and working alongside my mother in our small family business of providing fashion designing services to customers in Singapore. This is just one example of how I have always followed my dreams and my passion- my next big dream was to pursue my MBA and work for Amazon. So here am I writing to you for this amazing opportunity that Amazon is offering and in turn I would like to offer my creativity, passion, dedication and commitment to one of the most customer-oriented companies in the world.

I am extremely interested in the Financial Leadership Program that Amazon has. I am a highly motivated and driven individual with good attention to detail and coupled with my experience and the skills required for this role, I believe I will be good fit for Amazon.

I have worked in middle office roles for securities and asset management products supporting multinational teams around the globe for 6 years at Barclays which brought with it many excitement, challenges and learning opportunities. Right from understanding the entire trade process, to resolving issues between clients and the front office, to dealing with regulators and new regulations. Besides providing the day to day support to the sales and trading desks, I have also been heavily involved in several projects such as driving several process changes and improvements that have resulted in significant time savings and better controls for the teams such as deep diving into the trade exception queues to identify reasons for trades feeding into the queues. My analysis and subsequent workarounds with several teams such as traders, product data teams resulted in a 70% reduction in trades feeding into the exception queues which reduced time spent for my colleagues both in my team and in the settlement department. My experience and my technical knowledge have always made me an integral part of my teams and also the key contact point for clients, trading and sales teams and other operations and support units.

In my last role as a risk and control manager at Citibank, one of the biggest opportunities I had was to strengthen the control landscape at Citibank for the Asia Pacific consumer business whilst being cost effective at the same time. This extensive project which took place over a period of 1 year resulting in a controls department that was structured and consistent across the region and allowed for a 20% reduction of headcount while being a more efficient and tighter department.

The experience and the skills that I have gained over the years have resulted in me being detail orientated and adopting an analytical approach on the tasks that the team performs resulting in low error and high quality output. I am able to multi task-adept at handling day to day activities whilst driving several projects and at the same time be involved in several initiatives outside work such as representing my companies at career fairs, taking part in charity events to raise money and awareness. Furthermore, my regular interactions with clients have propelled me to provide excellent and outstanding customer service.
