Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Assystem

Further to our recent meeting at the above referenced event, 26 November, I am submitting this letter in support of my application for a design engineering role within X. Please find my accompanying CV for your reading.

I am very interested in the wide range of projects and global expertise undertaken by X, as mentioned on the company webpage, and hold a willingness to become skilled in providing engineering design and consultancy services for the organisation.

With reference to my CV, after completing a broad range of independent and team oriented research projects, including those in turbomachinery, fluid mechanics, materials engineering, and product design, I graduated in X with a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.

I have continued to acquire sound overall knowledge in leading edge engineering principles, practices and products over the past four years. I am not a typical design engineer, because I hold experience in both project management and design engineering. Learning such different competencies has given me a great breadth of experience and I feel I have developed a wider skills base than my fellow applicants.

In my current role in the manufacturing sector, I was appointed to design jigs and fixtures for automated product test and assembly systems. Using predominantly X and Xsoftware, I have gained significant experience in computer-aided-design (CAD). My effective communication and practical problem-solving skills were quickly recognised and I now provide mechanical design support as part of a specialist team.

I am now looking to join an experienced, future-oriented engineering services provider, with a worldwide reputation for innovation in the Aerospace, Gas turbines, Energy, Marine, Nuclear, and Rail industries, and I believe I have found such a company in X.
