Audit Intern
A conscientious and analytical person, I have always aspired to build a career in audit with an established firm. Inspired by both my parents, who once had professional careers in IT and marketing respectively, this sparked my interest in gaining a professional career. Now studying accountancy, I aspire to be a chartered accountant in the near future.
A sports enthusiast with a passion to lead, I am commonly described as cheerful and lively. My hobbies include long distance runs at East Coast Park, while appreciating the calm and relaxing atmosphere. Now a penultimate year student, I am also a youth volunteer mentor with 8 youths under my care. Once a beneficiary of such mentors in my adolescent years, I hope to pay it forward, inspiring other youths towards academic and career success.
During my university education, I read company law, audit and accounting. Several skills that have enabled me to excel in these areas are attention to details, analytical skills and contextual awareness.
Academics aside, I was given the opportunity to be an ambassador of Nanyang Business School for Asian Business Case Competition 2014, interacting with students and Professors from various countries. My dedication to non-academic commitments often requires effective time management skills while remaining focused on my long –term career goal after graduation.
For example, I work part-time as a mathematics and science tutor to defray my personal living expenses in order to lighten the financial burden on my family; I strongly believe in maximizing students’ academic potential to the best of their abilities. With an energetic personality and positive disposition, I hope to develop and contribute to your firm’s vibrant working environment. I hope to bring the relevant soft skills gained from these life experiences as a part time tutor, and full-time student
While waiting to enter university, I secured an internship at National Environment Agency. This exposed me to the values and skills needed to succeed in the workplace, and an appreciation of the government systems and ministries. Through my performance, I was offered a fully-subsidized government overseas scholarship under NEA, but chose to decline the offer as it was not aligned with my career aspirations.
As part of the student exchange Program in NUS High School, spending ten days in the Korea Science Academy of KAIST as a student ambassador; I forged lasting relationships with the Korean students. These overseas stints have sharpened my ability to blend seamlessly and appreciate different cultures and societies, gaining the cultural awareness of working with people from different backgrounds and societies.
My ambition to go into audit work, combined with the technical competencies and soft skills, makes me a good fit for this internship opportunity. Thank you for reviewing my application
