Four years ago, I chose Environmental Science as my major mainly because at that time, the pollution in my hometown was getting worse so I wanted to do something for the improvement of environment through my own effort. After years of study, I have found myself more interested in this area mainly because I have gained deeper views about environmental damages. Also, environmental problems are more complicated and complex than I thought of before, so there is still a long way for me to go if I want to achieve my ambition. Particularly, I have a passion in water treatment and management. I always consider water is vital to the environment and all creatures. Besides, a lot of other environmental problems are closely related to water pollution or water scarcity, and I am willing to learn more new technologies about water treatment to help handle this problem in the future.

I am a team-worker who always likes to face to varieties and challenges. As my bachelor degree was about environmental science, I had taken various lessons like chemistry, mathematics, statics and science experiments. Also, I had over two years of experience in scientific researches. I took part in two high level scientific projects in drinking water and wastewater treatment area respectively. My analytical, operational and collaborative abilities got significantly improved during my undergraduate study. And my core courses now in Imperial are about law, policies, economics, etc. These branches of social science have provided me with more broaden views about the development of our society and developed my critical thinking skills. In my future career, my integrated background and knowledge can offer me comprehensive understanding and analysis of cases and tasks.

And now as I am doing my mater degree in Environmental Technology in Imperial College London, my knowledge has been broaden through gaining more knowledge about Environmental Policy, pollution control and Environmental Law. Also, I took part in the integrated water resource management project with Anglian Water and have got my multi-criteria analysis ability improved, which will help in the future. I have found that in my future study and career, I will need to apply critical thinking skills into practical environmental problems as well as integrating scientific knowledge with socioeconomic factors, so as to have a better understanding of the current environmental problems and come up with more comprehensive solutions.
