Sample cover letter for Internship position at Bank Gutmann

POSITION:

Business Summer Intern

GOT THE JOB? Yes

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently an Economics student at University College London and I am highly interested in an internship at your institution. The reason why I am writing this email to you is that I had the pleasure to talk to one of your former interns, Nikolai Rozanov. Having the opportunity to speak with him, I was delighted to learn about the supportive, collegial work environment at Bank Gutmann. I am convinced that the culture at Bank Gutmann is truly unique and conducive to one’s personal and professional growth. A culture emphasizing the value of a team, Bank Gutmann encourages its employees to receive constant feedback and support from one’s peers, supervisors and mentors. I have every confidence that the opportunity to work within this company as a spring or a summer intern will provide the best training available, and significant exposure to what drives the banking sector.

My background in economics and mathematics has cultivated my interest in understanding how the finance sector operates and has also greatly strengthened my quantitative and analytical skills. Moreover, my internships at the Government Office of the Slovak Republic and UMS (Consulting/Insurance Company in Slovakia) have exposed me to some of the key concepts and tools used in the industry ranging from theoretical securities valuation to economic factors affecting currency and rates markets. Similarly, I am confident that my experiences at these institutions will help me prepare for the demands of a challenging environment at Bank Gutmann. I have grown very accustomed to working under pressure and multitasking having successfully balanced my jobs (Debate Mate and The London Guide) with a vast amount of extra-curricular activities while maintaining a rigorous, full-time course load. The Bank Gutmann's Business Principles greatly resonate with me, especially the first principle of placing the clients’ interests as paramount. My experience working in UMS has truly made me attuned to best serving a client’s needs. I have worked in an environment where providing the best quality service possible to retain existing clients and attract new clients is of utmost importance. Having the opportunity to interact with clients has also substantially honed my interpersonal and communication skills. I consider myself to be a driven and energetic team player, capable of functioning as both a contributing member as well as a leader. I am very enthusiastic about bringing my energy and my eagerness to learn from Bank Gutmann.

The reason why I am convinced that I am able enough to work at Bank Gutmann is that not every twenty year old student has as much experience as me. All the actives I have been involved in portray and prove my drive and strong ambition to really make a change in the world. I am sure that Bank Gutmann employs only exceptional individuals and to convince you that I belong to this category I would like to describe two experiences of mine.

During my internship at the Slovak Government, I was assigned to a team of 10 members and our task was to make a proposal of indicators to measure the progress of Europe 2020 policy. As the youngest member of the team, I was invited to present this proposal to the Polish Government in Warsaw. Consequently, I was invited for an internship in the European Commission in 2016.

Moreover, when I was sixteen years old, I was invited to present a 3 million project to Chinese contractors as a UMS representative. After careful preparation, I was delighted to announce that our project had been chosen.

I believe that I have sufficiently expressed my interest and motivation to be involved with this company and to provide a strong contribution to the work culture at Bank Gutmann.
