My name is ___________; I am a highly motivated self-starter and I have gained private equity and alternative investment experience during my 2015 Summer Internship at ______________. I am writing to apply for the Summer 2016 Internship positions for the alternatives and equities divisions at Blackrock.

I have an excellent academic record, having most recently attained 1^st class honours in my first year of University (80%), where I am studying Economics. I was awarded the __________________ prize for attaining the highest marks in the year (400 students) across Economics modules.

Blackrock first caught my attention when I began reading Russ Koesterich’s blog during my University studies. This sparked my interest in the company and in asset management as a career route.

I feel that structure of the Summer Internship at Blackrock particularly suits me. I believe that the buddy and mentor scheme in place would allow me to seize the most out of the internship and the opportunity to advance in the company if a graduate position was offered is a prospect that excites me. Both the alternatives and equities divisions attract me due to the diverse nature of the work there and the opportunity to work with high profile companies and projects.

From the research I have conducted on the company, there appears to be a good atmosphere and work ethos at Blackrock and a strong community between colleagues, which is very important to me. The caliber of team members employed by Blackrock also draws me to the company, with the opportunity to work with some of the brightest graduates globally.
