I am writing to you in response to the advert you have posted on the University of Bristol’s Careers Service website.

I am currently studying for a BSc in Accounting and Finance at the university and the course serves to deepen understanding towards how financial information supports decision making. In particular, this objective is in line with what Bristol Pound is offering and presents the opportunity to gain insight on the effects of Bristol Pound on an individual, the community and the economy. Indeed, I believe that the Economic Principles unit I’m taking this semester will allow me to view things from a new perspective and share my thoughts and ideas with everyone involved in the project.

All three of my work experiences have allowed me to develop my communication skills, especially in regards to different types of customers. For example, my time as a waitress at Uno! made me more sensitive towards customers’ needs. Similarly, Piscines Desjoyaux (a swimming pool company) honed my ability to adopt a professional and friendly approach towards customers whereas in V.Parthipan and Khor (a criminal law firm), I learnt to be subtle and cautious in my persuasions and interviews.

In addition, with Piscines Desjoyaux, I aided in the implementation of business development ideas such as the production of the swimming pool maintenance manual for clients and also the creation of a smart card made in the image of the company that could be used in the daily lives of our clients. Furthermore, my creative write ups for advertisements in different magazines and newspapers for Piscines Desjoyaux on top of my formal reports for V.Parthipan and Khor and descriptive articles for my clubs and societies is a testament to my versatile writing skills. Indeed, my many experiences outside the classroom can vouch my ability as a team player with meaningful communication skills as I believe in being proactive and engaging with the team.

Bristol is a city with amazing potential and possibilities. Having been charmed by the culture diversity present in Bristol, being involved in the Bristol Pound team proposes the perfect opportunity to better understand and play a part in Bristol’s individualistic yet colourful community. I would love to be a part of the development of independent stores in Bristol and the various events and activities held in Bristol annually inspires me to come up with ideas to help spread the usage of Bristol Pound.
