Please find enclosed my application for the position of Intern for the 7 week placement working within Financial and Speciality Markets space with QBE that was advertised through the Brokerage and Citylink.

I strongly feel that this placement aligns directly with my educational experience, interest and skills.With QBE being a distinctive leader within the commercial insurer and reinsurer market I am interested in embracing the QBE ethos of using its market expertise to understand the needs of the individual client in order to deliver bespoke Professional Indemnity. With a gross premiumin excess of £200m, I am engrossed by the opportunity to see first-hand the fast paced nature for which unique challenges are quickly responded to by a large insurance firm.

I am currently in my final year at Brunel University,studying Economics and Business finance. The course has provided me with a strong background in the methodologies required in order to successfully analyse and synthesize important financial information and in familiarising me with document preparation to assist management when making critical business decisions. As part of my coursework I was required to obtain and refine data in spreadsheets and present it through various graphs, which as a result I was able to become efficient in using Excel. I believe my skillset alongside my drive to tackle new challenges would allow me to be a beneficial player in assisting and providing exposure to part of the underwriting team.

These skills were further anchored through my internship as a financial analyst which allowed me to work on numerous projects that involved data cleansing. The internship enhanced my confidence in being able to harness data and correctly feedback to my supervisor the relevant suggestions. In addition, working in the Middle Eastern market in Dubai as part of an internship allowed to truly understand the determination and drive needed in order to deliver the objectives of tasks at hand. I believe my strengths in these areas would serve me well working within the financial and speciality markets space in completing the project at hand.

Ultimately, with my strong analytical skills and comprehensive communications abilities, I anticipate being a reliable, contributing member of your team in working on this project.
