I am interested in applying for the Accounting Intern position for Summer 2016, which I found on Indeed. I will be a rising junior at ***** University in ******, MA this summer where I am working towards a bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in computer information systems. Attending a business school, I have gained knowledge in my courses to give me a solid foundation in the tools, processes, and a background in accounting, as well as retaining a solid grasp of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and SQL in my computer information systems classes. Group work is embedded into my coursework and I have gained skills to become a valuable asset to any team.

At ****, I worked in the card office as a Data Entry Clerk. I served the ****** community by administering support for patrons regarding identification cards, parking, and other services that the office offers. I utilized Excel daily and was put into situations where a patron became difficult, and was able to respond in a professional and appropriate manner. This past fall semester I served as the Director of Finance for the ****** Sorority, where I helped the VP of Chapter Operations to establish appropriate budgets for our chapter, ensure that members pay dues within a designated time frame, helped to oversee sorority funds of over $30,000. Working directly with the VP allowed me to work within a team setting all while communicating with members of the chapter to ensure that deadlines were followed and precision and accuracy was maintained in keeping my chapter’s finances in order.

This spring semester I will be interning as a Tax and Audit intern at ******* in Brighton, MA where I will be helping to prepare tax and audit documentation, assist in office and clerical work for the accountants there, and assist in communicating with customers. I am positively certain that the skills I will gain from this internship will prepare me for an internship at Buzzfeedc.

I have the foundation and skills to be an asset to the accounting and finance team at ******. I am a fast learner and adapt well to change, as well as have the ability to work well under pressure and deliver excellent results. My knack for numbers makes this internship an excellent opportunity for me to continue to learn and advance in my career.
