Sample cover letter for Full Time position at CIL
Business Analyst
Dear Mr. anonymous,
During two years at COMPANY as a field engineer I have witnessed how businesses across the oil and gas industry have struggled to adapt under strenuous market conditions. This has developed my interest in market analysis, strategy and management. I am therefore writing to apply for the role of analyst based in CITY.
Seeing my own company go through a large merger has allowed me to better understand the challenges and impacts such a major strategic decision can have. The prospect of having a macro-oriented view of such transactions and analysing their viability is very exciting. COMPANY offers the unique position of working with banks, private equity and mid-market companies providing a multi-faceted understanding of each industry. In addition, I was drawn to their approach of utilising deep sector knowledge and performing rigorous research but with a high project turnover that would enable me to build knowledge very rapidly. I am keen to work in multiple industries but with a focus on energy and utilities that would allow me to utilise my knowledge of the oil and gas sector. I believe CIL can offer an excellent variation in work but with an opportunity to specialise due to its high project turnover and existing expertise. Furthermore, conversations with CONSULTANT have allowed me to gain great insight to CIL’s fast paced, close-knit and supportive culture which I feel I would be an excellent fit and confirmed my decision to apply.
My master’s research at UNIVERSITY on solar cells improved my ability to handle large data sets and present them eloquently resulting in my award for best project presentation. I have also developed an understanding of how large projects are financed through my time at COMPANY where I performed extensive investment analysis and modelling. On one project for a biofuels opportunity in Ukraine I was able to show that despite strong forecasted growth, potential returns were outweighed by the risks associated with a lack of stable governance and well-structured policy. In addition to analytics and problem solving, I thrive in team environments; by leading a project to re-structure the log QC department at COMPANY I was able to drive change, honing my leadership and teamwork abilities. Seeing the results of enhanced operational efficiency reflected in improved performance and $25K in cost savings was deeply satisfying.
I believe these skills coupled with my strong interest in CIL’s work would allow me to make a successful transition and contribute to CIL’s rapid growth and future success.
I would greatly appreciate the chance to discuss my application with you at your earliest convenience and look forward to your reply.
Yours Sincerely,
PERSON
