Sample cover letter for Internship position at Capital Partners
Summer Analyst
I am a State University junior majoring in Art History with a minor in Advertising. I am ready for a summer internship with Capital Partners because I am a driven and achievement-oriented individual with previous finance experience.
Currently, I co-manage the State University Fund, a student-run equity and options portfolio of $500,000. Outside of developing my capabilities as a leader and coach, my primary skillset is company valuation. My stock valuation methods are fundamental and quantitative - I value companies in teams using discounted cash flow and comps models accompanied by market research. I believe my ability to evaluate an investment is similar to an analyst’s ability to value companies for various transactions. I am ready to develop this skill into a lifetime expertise with your firm.
I also developed a general investment banking skill set at Madison Partners this past summer. I studied the gaming technology space to evaluate potential clients based on revenues, milestones, and whether they had venture capital and private equity backing and pitched top opportunities to my sector leader. I became proficient in power point and excel and even sat down with top management to learn about the company’s operations from a high-level perspective.
My internship at Madison Partners was an excellent opportunity to learn about the investment banking business and to develop my ability to prepare client materials. I’m looking for the opportunity to take my self-initiating personality and truly learn the investment banking trade from Mr. Concept’s team of top technology bankers.
Moreover, I would love to start my career in New York. I have lived across three countries and four states and find there is no city with a culture like New York. After taking classes on Software as a Service and Biopharmaceutical Innovation, I’m drawn to technology companies and enjoy analyzing them. I am currently completing two classes on how to analyze technology companies and believe that I’ll be even more technically prepared and suited to the analyst role upon their completion.
With my previous finance experience and driven, achievement-oriented personality, I am ready to be the analyst coming in not only ready to learn, but ready to outperform. I would be delighted to work with Capital Partners.
Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Don Draper
