Sample cover letter for Internship position at Carbon Creative
Sustainability advisor
Cover letter
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to be considered for the position of sustainability advisor in your company.
I am the final year postgraduate student at St. Andrews University studying for MSc. in Sustainable Development (our department ranked first in the UK by Guardian university guide for 2016 and best in 2015 by Guardian and Times) and I am extremely interested in what I study. Consequently, having seen the position of sustainability advisor in your company I decided to apply straight away. I believe my degree course has prepared me for the job of sustainable advisor as it involved a great deal of research, required initiative, self-motivation and a wide range of skills.
I became passionate about this field when I took online courses about morality and the changing global order several years ago by Yale and Leiden universities. Ever since I realized the importance of this field and its relevance today. However, I also realized that I needed deeper understanding of this field if I wanted to work in it in the future. Therefore, I applied to St. Andrews University which program in Sustainable Development was the best at that moment, won a scholarship and came here to deepen my knowledge and understanding. Consequently, at the moment I am looking for the company in which I could best apply my knowledge, experience and passion and your position of sustainability advisor seems to be a promising one for me.
The reason why I am so passionate about such a job is not only because it is extremely interesting for me personally but also because I will be convinced that by working hard I contribute my efforts, time and knowledge for the benefit of the world now matter how funny that might sound. I believe that having the job of sustainable advisor any effort I make will benefit not just the company and the clients but also the country and the world in general as sustainable development is achieved not at once but by small contributions by regular people.
As for the visa matter, I have consulted St. Andrews visa center and was told that because I am a current student in the UK and a resident of this country the “resident market test” does not apply to me and I am currently considered as a local. I was also told to inform any company I apply to that my university visa advisor can contact any company of my choice and provide a complete visa guidance on me if such is needed.
For my skills and experience please consider my CV.
Yours sincerely,
XXXX
