Sample cover letter for Internship position at Carnegie Mellon University

POSITION:

Research Intern

I’ve always had a keen fascination for Electronic devices and their working at the micro level. While browsing through different University Programs, I came across the Summer URO program of Carnegie Mellon University. Being a passionate and enthusiastic person, I see this as an opportunity to gain an in depth knowledge of my field and at the same time, enhance the skills that I have developed over the past three years in the domain of Electronics and Communication.

I am currently in my third year and I feel that there is a lot for me to learn and my curiosity will drive me in a pursuit to gain sufficient knowledge to quench my thirst. Hence, I plan to go for higher studies doing a Masters followed by a PhD degree.

Apart from studies, I have been actively involved in research activities. I've down a couple of projects.I believe I have the passion to work, am dedicated towards my job and if given a chance, I would leave no stone unturned to contribute significantly to the project and at the same time gain experience from the exposure that I intend to get to grow into a successful research person.
