I am graduating in the end of 2015 from [  ] with a Masters degree in Managerial and Financial Economics. The opportunity to start a career in a challenging environment amongst the best professionals as well as my interest in investment banking have motivated me to apply for the summer internship at Citi.

During my conversation with [   ], a VP in M&A execution team in London, I was highly impressed with the corporate culture of Citi. Mr. [  ] emphasized the meritocratic environment at Citi and the direct access to senior management. As a result, he said, the learning curve of junior team members is steeper than elsewhere, which is very appealing to me.

The Citi’s team professional achievements make me particularly enthusiastic about this position. For instance, Citi advised Vivendi on the sale of SFR to Altice, the deal, which marked one of the biggest changes on the French telecom market. The Vivendi advisors managed not only to increase the cash component in the revised offer by €1.75 Bn, but also to sell SFR at 7.0x EV/EBITDA, which is significantly higher than the broker consensus (5.6x) and the EU telco average (6.0x).

I am convinced that my past professional experience and strong academic background can be of significant value for Citi. During my summer and off-cycle internships with Morgan Stanley I learnt a lot about the business of investment banks. I proved that I can work under significant time pressure, as often I had to work on several projects simultaneously and had to meet strict deadlines. Moreover, while working as an off-cycle research intern at Merrill Lynch I enhanced my technical skills as well as my attention to detail as I had to report directly to a Managing Director covering [  ] banks.

At HEC Paris I remain focused on deepening my knowledge of finance. In particular, through modules such as mergers and acquisitions and financing decisions of firms I developed an understanding of nuances of company valuation techniques, which I put into practice while working with Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.
