Sample cover letter for Internship position at Citi

POSITION:

Analyst

Citibank

25 Canada Square

Canary Wharf

London
E14 5LB

12 November 2015

Dear Citi Recruiter,

I have applied to Citi’s Sales & Trading, since I am fascinated with speculation and hedging. Citi was among the first companies, whose equities I traded. Citigroup’s per share profit is set to double this year, which makes me eager to purchase shares again. Also, I have been impressed how Citigroup re-established itself after the 2008 crisis and now has excellent quarterly results, compared to others.

I have been following trading passion, since I have heard in my college economics class about George Soros and his break of the Bank of England in 1992. My every morning starts with Bloomberg and The Wall Street Journal. Reading news about markets, watching stocks rise and fall and trading are my hobbies. For example, today I bought 2,000 shares of BAE Systems after reading that their revenues will not fall this year and they break-even on building the Eurofighter-Typhoon combat-jet. My main indicators while picking stocks are volume, price to book value ratio, Sharpe ratio and earnings per share.

Also, you should strongly consider me, since I am a multilingual person. I am fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, Romanian, English and I have studied German for 4 years. I intend to learn Spanish in the nearest future, since it is similar to Romanian. Therefore, you could place me in any Easter-European or English-speaking countries and I will feel myself as home.

Moreover, I am able to multitask, think fast and sharp, and be a leader.

I would welcome an opportunity to discuss my application with you and learn more about Citi at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Yours faithfully
