Sample cover letter for Internship position at Citibank

POSITION:

Implementation Specialist

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Implementation Specialist internship position. The financial sector has become an interest of mine in recent years and reading up on the different investment approaches and attending talks by leading bankers has only spurred this interest. Having the opportunity to experience the culture in one of the world’s leading banks would be most exciting to me and I believe will only strengthen my interest and be a rewarding learning experience.

The courses and projects that I have undertaken in my studies have given me the skills to analyse and understand processes and the various factors that help in decision making. I also have a keen interest in understanding the context in which actions or present situations have come about, in order to make sense of them. Therefore, I have taken elective modules such as World History which have the additional benefit of honing my persuasive and communication skills. I believe that this has given me a good framework in which I can make valuable contributions as an Intern at Citibank by being able understand the sequence of actions and elements necessary for the project as well as internalise and communicate clearly the needs of the clients.

Citibank is a well established bank that has an excellent reputation that extends to its bankers. I believe that my academic training in understanding systems and processes as well as my good communication skills will help me be a productive and motivated Intern at Citibank. I would like to express my gratitude for your time and consideration. Enclosed is my resume for your perusal. Please feel free to contact me at any time and I look forward to meeting you to discuss this opportunity.

Sincerely,

John
