Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Cornell Student Agencies
Assistant Manager
After hearing about Student Agencies Inc. in one of my classes and proceeding to do my own research, I quickly became impressed with SAI’s mission. Specifically, I was impressed with SAI’s investment in, and commitment to the development of the Cornell students it chooses to hire. Ultimately, becoming an employee for SAI will give me the opportunity to use skills that I have acquired in class and apply them in a real and practical way. As such, I am very eager and highly interested in joining an organization with these values and objectives. Therefore, I am glad to hear that Student Agencies Inc. is in their recruiting period as I am submitting my application for the Assistant Manager position for Hired Hands.
Being an effective and successful Assistant Manager for Hired Hands takes a diverse set of skills, and many of the opportunities I have had in the past or am currently doing have afforded me plenty of rewarding experiences and relevant takeaways. One of the more pertinent experiences that I have had is my work at Cornell’s Veterinary College. Here, I have developed and strengthened my analytical, excel modeling, and office management skills. On top of general office management, through a range of projects I have become proficient at synthesizing large amounts of information/data and providing actionable and creative recommendations through various mediums. Other experiences in which I gained relevant skills were my times as the Head Delegate of my high school’s Model Congress Team and the President of my high school’s Microfinance initiative. As Head Delegate, coaching my team in advanced debate rhetoric helped me strengthen my ability to successfully communicate complex ideas to other individuals. Additionally, my time as the President of the Microfinance initiative and seizing once neglected opportunities, helped me improve my entrepreneurial attitude and my execution of taking an idea and making it happen. Moreover, both experiences, as Head Delegate and President, helped me enhance my leadership skills as well as my ability to be a productive part of a team.
Since the success of a Hired Hands Assistant Manager depends strongly on interpersonal, communicative, and team skill— as well as others--, I am confident that my past and present experiences have prepared me well for the job. My time at Cornell’s Vet school has adequately prepared me for the office tasks, which could include filling out contracts and making and receiving calls to and from clients. My time as President of the Microfinance initiative has prepared me well for actual field work, as I will be able to step in as a leader on moves, when appropriate, and be able to work with my fellow workers as a cohesive team unit. Lastly, my time as Head Delegate has prepared me well for client relations, as I will be able to communicate effectively and confidentially with clients and my fellow workers.
Overall, I think that I exhibit the qualities and possess the skills that SAI is looking for in the Assistant Manager for Hired Hands. Ultimately, I think I would contribute well to the hired Hired Hands division, and be a good fit for Student Agencies Inc. organization in general. Sent in an email is my resume, and I welcome the opportunity to discuss the position of Assistant Manager at your convenience.
