Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Credit Suisse

POSITION:

Analyst

Dear hiring manger,

I am writing to you regarding the job opportunity IBD, M&A, Transaction Specialist (New York). The financial world and the banking industry have always fascinated me with its fast-paced and exciting market movements. Credit Suisse AG has successfully built its reputation as the leading investment bank by providing excellent financial advisory services including in M&A, IPO, ECM and DCM. As such, I would feel honored to obtain a start my career in the M&A group and gain an in-depth understanding from one of the best in the industry.

During the course of my studies, I was able maintain a strong academic record and develop essential skills beyond the class room curriculum. I worked part-time at my local community on a health and youth development project as the project manager, accepted a leadership role in Sales and External Relations at AIESEC, the world’s largest student-run non-profit organization, and participated in an exchange year in Shanghai at Fudan University as a recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship. In addition, in my penultimate year, I challenged myself to gain relevant experience from various internships, including in Sales Support at Huber+Suhner (Shanghai), in Securities Lending at UBS Investment Bank and in Structured Lending at Credit Suisse AG, in order to enhance my practical knowledge and skill set.

My most recent internship experience at Credit Suisse AG in the Structured Lending department has given me an opportunity to learn about a very versatile and complex business, and in addition gain exciting and rewarding experience within the banking industry. The Structured Lending team works closely with the IBCM and IWM to provide lending and debt financing capabilities to multinational corporates and UHNW clients. From this experience, I was able to develop essential skills that are relevant for the M&A department including assessing credit risks, analyzing financial statements, providing company due diligence reports, as well as building financial models for cash-flow projections. The expertise within the team has had a great impact on my learning process and has become instrumental for me to gain industry-relevant knowledge and analytical skills. In addition, I was also able to further developed various soft skills and intercultural understanding from my previous work and life experiences.

I strongly believe that my exceptional interpersonal skills, my ability to work under pressure and my keen interest in the financial industry will enable me to excel in this position and bring valuable contribution to your department. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time. Thank you for your time and your consideration.

Sincerely,

Philip Huan
