Sample cover letter for Internship position at Deloitte

I’d like to apply for Tax Consultant Summer intern in New York Office. I am a first-year MS Accounting student at the [Your school name] and I am expected to graduate in xxx. I learned this position by attending the information session that Deloitte held on xxx at [Location].

As you will see from my resume, I was a spring and summer intern in Deloitte forensic department. I worked with teams which consist of 3-5 colleagues on 3 investigation projects. I performed sample testing and evidence analysis regarding expense accounts. By the time I finished my internship, I received job offers from both assurance division and forensic department. However I made the decision to continue my study at [School Name]. After my graduation, I want to joined one of the Big Fours as my first job. Nevertheless, Deloitte is my primary choice. It is not only because Deloitte’s great performance in the past few years, but also because I really enjoyed my internship at Deloitte and I would be so happy if I can come back.

Although my major is accounting, I have taken tax courses this semester and I have found my tax classes to be especially interesting because and I like challenges and I am a problem solver. I intend to take more tax related courses in the following semesters. My undergraduate degree was business and accounting, so my value to your company is enhanced by both degrees. My strong MS Excel skills and experience with Pivot Table prepared me well for this position at Deloitte. I consider to start my career in tax not only because my major is related to this field, but also because my passion for it.
