Healthcare companies have become increasingly active over the last two years with the acquisition of Allergan by Pfizer, Humana by Aetna and Baxalta by Shire to name a few. Healthcare alone accounted for 13% of the mergers and acquisitions world wide for the calendar year of 2015 and companies like Deloitte are at the forefront of such deals ensuring proper post merger integration as well as evaluation of market scenarios for demand and supply of new products to unlock new possibilities or enhance present ones.

I have immersed myself in the life sciences and healthcare culture for the entirety of my academia learning its inner workings from some of the leading researchers in the field at University College London. In this time I undertook a design project task to create a preliminary design of a biotechnology facility using cost of goods prediction models like Biosolve and excel based VBA process economic models applying discounted cash flow and net present value techniques for commercial optimization and project management software to streamline resource allocation. This then inspired me to hone my analytical skills and understanding of company structures by enrolling in evaluation of business planning and project management modules to further my understanding of business culture outside of the life sciences and expanding my appreciation of valuation and modelling in other sectors including real estate and finance.
