I am excited by significant responsibilities given to the intern position; the opportunity to add value whilst working closely to senior members and the prospect of gaining insight into frontier market investing. The role is varied and demanding, and is apt as I am keen to respond to challenges. Having a vision in the long-term of becoming a pragmatic investor, I want to learn all aspects of the investment process and feel ECP will provide an ideal platform to do so. Whilst experience thus far has not centred on the continent, my recent travels to the region (Kenya) has sparked genuine interest in the culture and service-led business environment. AutoXpress is one business (minority owned by Actis) illustrating the increasing PE activity in family-owned businesses in the region.

Working as an Investment Banking analyst at HSBC, I have gained a fundamental analyst skill-set that will be well suited to this position. Through working on transactions as the primary analyst in my team, I have thrived on the steep learning curve through managing multiple projects for multiple senior bankers and delivering timely, high-quality output. I’d like to bring this rigour and ambition to your business. One example where I have seen the process from marketing to execution of a live transaction is the IPO of one Turkey’s largest REITs - whereby I led the equity story, took ownership of the analyst presentation for the client and valuation analysis.
