Sample cover letter for Internship position at EY

POSITION:

BAP

I am writing to express my sincere interest in your Business Advisor Program. I have learned of this position through my conversations with your representatives at recently held x. My interest in pursuing a career in the fields of Finance and Accounting has been a long-standing one, and accordingly, I am pursuing a dual degree in those two disciplines. EY’s Business Advisor Program is particularly appealing to me given the scope of activities that its interns engage in; whether the soft skills of building client communication and client-management to the hard skills of managing and monitoring financial and operational risks. In addition, the ability to make a true impact on a company’s operations and to help it shape and achieve its goals are qualities that make consulting such a personally appealing opportunity.

I possess a skillset that I believe would be of great benefit to EY. Forged through my education in Business Information Systems, I have developed a strong analytical foundation as well as have familiarity and competence in Microsoft Office Suite. In addition, my academic and work experience includes a summer abroad program in Prague that was coupled with a challenging internship program. During my time interning for ČEPS (the holder of the electricity transmission license for the Czech Republic), I had the opportunity to meet with senior representatives of each of the company’s departments in order to garner a holistic view of the company’s business operations. Once provided with this general framework, I was charged with independently creating a capital allocation presentation of financing alternatives with relatively little guidance from my superiors. I earned an “A” for my work at the company and was lauded for my “great potential for building client relationships”. The Company’s chairman praised me for my strong work ethic and leadership skills.

As I prepare to embark on my professional career, I truly appreciate the importance of being employed by a firm built upon a solid ethical foundation. EY clearly exhibits this trait through its initiative in “building a better working world” and the philanthropic efforts of the EY Foundation. Given my great passion for community service as reflected in my resume, I believe that I would be a strong fit for your corporate culture of integrity and social responsibility.

Internships are aimed at both facilitating growth in their participants while allowing the employer to nurture a relationship with a potential future employee. I believe that I have the business foundation and drive for self-improvement that would render me an asset to your organization. I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to further discuss my background with you. I truly appreciate your consideration for this position and look forward to hearing back from you.
