I am writing to express my sincere interest in a position as a Human Resources Assistant at the University of Waterloo. After much research regarding the University of Waterloo’s commitment, as an employer, to the personal and professional development of employees, as well as its devotion to supporting Canada’s next generation of inventors, entrepreneurs, and leaders, it is my hope to be able to contribute towards the university’s mission of advancing learning and knowledge through teaching, research, and scholarship by developing the people who are best equipped to do so.
I am a self-motivated and high-achieving professional studying Accounting and Financial Management at the University of Waterloo. My drive to excel motivates me to seek enriched opportunities for development while pursuing continuous academic excellence, an achievement reflected in my 3.9 GPA. Thus far, I have completed two of nine courses required to earn the Certified Human Resources Professionals designation.
I understand that within the Human Resources department, teamwork abilities and superior communication and organizational skills are critical for success. As a Junior Staff Accountant at Ernst & Young LLP, I collaborated extensively with senior team members to perform financial statement audits on a number of major public corporations, contributing to the achievement of team goals through effective communication and the successful management and prioritization of individual tasks. Throughout the work term, I was consistently recognized by senior colleagues, managers, partners, and directors for my exceptional performance and remarkable organizational skills. My time at Ernst & Young LLP, in combination with my other work experiences and extracurricular involvements, have bestowed upon me a proven ability to build working relationships with customers, clients, and colleagues, produce quality work as an individual, and translate my interpersonal skills into tangible results, all of which are qualities and attributes that I plan on bringing to the Human Resources department, if given the opportunity. I am confident that my desire to exceed and surpass expectations, combined with my willingness to learn and excel in a demanding work environment, will allow me to promptly become a valuable member of the Human Resources team.
Given the opportunity to become a Human Resources Assistant at the University of Waterloo, I will strive to assist in the provision and maintenance of a positive working environment for all university employees. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
