Sample cover letter for Internship position at Education policy

I am contacting you regarding the position as an intern at the Mexico Institute in the Wilson Center. I was moved by this opportunity because I believe that Mexican Culture deserves to be given more attention than it already is and to speed up its growth and raise its level of importance. This opportunity allows for me to contribute towards this growth while at the same time expanding my knowledge about issues and policy in this area. Mexico’s future is of my high interest and I believe research and promotion of this country’s culture is the best way for me to be part of it.

As a participant and later staff member of the National Hispanic Institute, I have had the opportunity to get a more in depth understanding of major issues with in Mexico. As a participant, I learned not only to research and understand these issues but managed to create full complete written reports about them and later delivering them to an audience. I believe both skills of research and writing ability have granted me management and coordination skills that are necessary to fulfill this position as an intern. My current University’s teaching methods include research and discussion as its base. This is another reason why I consider having enough practice in order to fulfill this position thoroughly.

I believe there is no bigger reason for interest in this internship than the fact that I come from a Mexican background at a personal level. Living on a small border town in Mexico yet crossing the border to go to school everyday in Texas has allowed me to achieve a peculiar way of thinking when it comes to Mexico and further more Mexico’s relationship with the U.S.
