Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Eldan Law

POSITION:

Trainee Lawyer

Application for Relevant Legal Training and/or Practice Training Contract

I am a 3rd year law undergraduate from the University of Manchester writing to express my interest to join Eldan Law. My preferred department is the Arbitration, Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Department.

I aspire to become a litigation lawyer well-versed in both the advisory and contentious aspects of civil and commercial matters, and for that reason I will very much like to begin my legal career with Eldan Law. Eldan Law is a leading law firm with an extensive litigation practice and strong regional presence. The breadth and depth of the firm’s expertise coupled with its dedicated and supportive training programme will provide me with excellent opportunities to develop and discover my strengths and interests. The firm adopts an inclusive work culture, an environment that would allow me to make meaningful contributions to the firm and its clients whilst simultaneously facilitating a holistic development of my career.

In return, I promise to pledge dedication and commitment to your firm. I am an inquisitive individual with an enquiring mind and enjoy the analytical and dynamic nature of legal work. I appreciate the significance of good research, innovative reasoning and word craft to the success of a case, and I will give nothing less than my best to assignments entrusted to me. My commitment to excellence is evinced from my consistent grades throughout university, tertiary and secondary education. I take pride in success but am never complacent and constantly seek to better myself. For instance, having enjoyed studying the Law of Tort and business modules during my tertiary education and wanting to enhance my knowledge in those areas, I took up Principle of Law, Medical and Ethics and Company Law in the second year and third year respectively at the university. The modules were extremely tough, but it was a decision I do not regret. Undertaking new challenges keeps my learning journey interesting whilst ensuring that I remain a valuable and engaging asset to my colleagues.

I will be commencing my Part A in January 2017. I will be available to commence my Relevant Legal Training and Practice Training in August 2016 and January 2018 respectively.

I hope that you will look upon my application favourably. Thank you.

Yours faithfully,

Leonard Saw
