Analysis and advice traineeship
I believe that in policy-making, strategy-setting or negotiations, a strong analytical work helps to
develop evidence-based measures. Thorough analysis helps you understand different backgrounds and
points of view and develop a well-rounded approach to negotiations and policy-making. My academic
background as well as my professional career have always had an analytical component. During my
university studies I chose the mathematical route of my degree (BSc rather than BA) as it provided a
range of statistical and econometrics courses. I applied this knowledge in my final year dissertation,
analysing debt and macroeconomic data of emerging and developing economies. As a Capital Structure
analyst for Bloomberg I have researched companies’ funding and liquidity structures, we provide clients
with standardised credit profiles of both companies and countries. Working in Bloomberg I have
developed quantitative and qualitative analytical skills. My current role has also taught me the
importance of comparability and transparency when analysing situations. Giving correct advice is
intrinsically linked with good analysis. Providing advice is communicating your analysis in an effective
and clear manner. Professionally, I have been directly involved in advising clients and project
stakeholders. I advise clients on the most suitable product for their specific needs. I identify their
strategy, goals and current limitations in order to provide bespoke solutions.
