My strong interest in international politics was the major reason why I chose to study an MA in International Relations, recently completed at the University of XXX. The course has provided me with an in-depth knowledge of the international system with its central debates and concerns. Independently complementing the content of the taught modules with long reading lists was a fundamental and rewarding part of my degree. As a result, I have greatly improved my expertise in carrying out autonomous research, prioritising key concepts, and assimilating information selectively whilst under pressure to meet strict deadlines. Furthermore, I have been able to master my critical writing competency to add to my strong numeracy and administrative skills, acquired whilst studying a BA in Economics and Management at the University of XXX.

The job description emphasises the importance of organisational and communications skills; qualities that I have developed throughout my studies and various experiences abroad. During my recent voluntary work with a charity, I was responsible for planning and managing the project of rehabilitating one lady, which involved, amongst other duties, the proactive organisation of various activities and meetings. Without doubt this role has enhanced my ability to work independently using my own initiative. As my CV highlights, I am a proficient IT user, comfortable on both Apple Mac and Windows operating systems; in April 2011 I obtained the European Computer Driving Licence qualification, which has given me an excellent understanding of all Microsoft Office applications.

I feel confident that with my knowledge and experience I would make an effective contribution to XXX. This role represents a fantastic opportunity through which I expect to attain valuable professional expertise in a field I am passionate about.
