Consulting, for me, is a very attractive career choice. The opportunity to effect positive change for a range

of institutions is the most attractive aspect of consulting. Dynamics of business and its challenges have

always intrigued me. One of my best learning experiences, as an intern at Nomura Research Institute

(NRI), Japan’s leading management consulting firm, was my first brush with the consulting world. It helped

me develop problem solving skills and reinforced the importance of applying logical reasoning and

analytical skills for business challenges. Smoothly collaborating with team members comprising of 3

nationalities and not sharing the same language, further affirmed me of my ability to work closely in multicultural

groups. Receiving a pre-placement offer from the firm was a cherry on the cake, and further

strengthened my belief about consulting as the ideal career option for me.

I have, since school days, harbored an intense motivation to excel in everything I do and be satisfied with

nothing but the best. My journey across 6 different schools, added several new dimensions to my thoughts

process making me culturally adaptive and inquisitive by nature which developed into passion for quizzing.

Wins at all levels of competition have only fueled it further. (Awarded ‘Significant Contribution to Quizzing,

IIT Delhi’). I have been continuously involved in various leadership roles, ranging from Head Boy in school,

to a Hostel Representative of Quizzing Club, Institute Secretary of Quizzing Club (Best Club Secretary) and

Marketing Coordinator of Rendezvous 2012. Having worked at all levels, in teams of diverse backgrounds,

I understand the importance of being a team player and a leader, and have learned to value difference in

opinion. My experience, while both performing as a participant and managing teams, has given me people

skills and taught me to keep a calm head and solve vague yet real life problems through application and

perseverance.

Once I decided that consulting was my target, Bain & Company clearly stood out amongst the rest. You

offered exposure to the best companies and best minds. With your expertise across various verticals and

horizontals I feel that you will provide me the right learning track to shape my consulting career. I was

particularly impressed by the fact that Bain believes in telling the truth as it is to the clients and not sugarcoating

it which is well reflected in its “True North” logo. I was impressed by your drive towards doing

meaningful projects only and zeal to see it through till the end, so much so that Bain clients are

outperforming the markets 4:1. Bain’s stress on maintaining a work life balance, especially initiatives like

the Bain Band and the Bain World Cup have really stuck with me. The closely knit group that you are,

which was evident from the presentation, has made Bain and Company a dream job for me. I hope I shall have an opportunity to be part of your illustrious firm.
