Sample cover letter for Internship position at FCP
Summer Analyst
Currently a second year student majoring in finance at Bocconi University, I would like to be considered for a summer analyst position at your firm.
My decision is mainly motivated by the potential opportunity to have an impact in the world and the global development, in other words shape the future. It is undeniable that M&A and IPOs contribute to change the business landscape every time it happens, it is a great reward for the substantial work and effort you furnish to reach that goal.
FCP has been for a long time a major player in advising global corporations, new ventures, significant shareholders and senior management teams on strategic and financial issues and mergers and acquisitions transactions. But what truly differentiates FCP from its competitors is their approach offering not only the strategic advisory demanded by their clients to grow but also all the technical support, network access and global reach. conjugated with the shared values of FCP, defined by its integrity, experienced judgment and independent advice. Thus, allowing to build long-term relationships with their clients, creating a strong basis for value creation in the future.
Over the past summer, I worked as a Global Risk Management intern at AWB, Africa’s 4th largest bank in terms of assets, I assisted other analysts in assessing the credit risk on different high profile investments financed by the bank, decide on new financing requests, and protecting the banks exposure to risk. I consider my major achievement during my internship to be the debt restructuring deal on which I worked alongside senior analysts and associates that involved one of the largest Moroccan quoted companies totaling more than 3 Billion in syndicated loans.
I had the opportunity to actively participate in the decision making for complex financing deals and improved my analytical skills through more structure in my ideas and training. it also made me realise that I wanted to work on the advisory side of deal making instead of analysing the requests, giving valuable insight to the client, focusing on more strategy oriented tasks. I also think that my position did not allow me to fully use and take advantage of my entrepreneurial skills since it did not really appeal for creativeness and innovation. I also think that my atypical background having studied at a French school in Morocco and currently attending an international program taught in English in an Italian university made me realise how important it is to be broad- minded in the industry.
