High school was mediocre until the day I stepped into chemistry. I was now a sophomore, proud to have survived freshman year, and three years away from graduating. I walked into my sixth period without a worry in mind. School was almost out, and soon I would be sitting in front of my 16" television watching my favorite show. However, sixth period turned out to be longer than the five previous ones. Chemistry, you might say is not a big deal--balancing equations, the periodic table, and messing with various cool elements that would produce the smallest version of an atomic bomb--but explosions are no fun when there is tension in the atmosphere. Ms. Woods, I will never forget her name or her demeanor. Ms. Woods was strict, mean, and my worst nightmare. She was the one to eat all the cookies, the red light in traffic, and the root of all my pet peeves. Ms. Woods made my sixth period into an unbalanced equation. Clearly, this was my worst educational experience. As soon as I walked into the room, I lost my ability to breathe along with my enthusiasm to learn. However, I must admit that despite the burden that Ms. Woods placed on me, I did learn chemistry at an impressive level.

There are many techniques to efficient teaching; although, Ms. Woods was strict, Mr. Jaffe was kind and as equally effective. Learning geometry was amazing in Mr. Jaffe's class. Homework was given once a week and reviewed in class. We shared moments of laughter as well as moments of intensity when learning proofs.
