Sample cover letter for Internship position at GE
Intern
I am a third year student studying at xx with a major in finance, and am currently looking for internship opportunities to further expand my experience, network, and strengthening my understanding of healthcare services. General Electric stood out to me as a challenging and beneficial work environment that will add to my work credentials and also allow me the opportunity to adapt to and contribute to the firm.xx has provided me with rigorous classes on management, information systems, finance, tax, accounting, as well as a liberal arts background that relates to the workplace and allows me to be a strong selection for an internship in the financial services field. However, one thing you cannot receive at a college is real world experience, colleagues, and a chance to be given real projects and assignments that contribute to a team and to a local business. For this reason, I am hoping to gain such experience and ask that General Electric is willing to consider me as a candidate for the Healthcare internship.
Previous experience as an intern in the Purchasing department at xx strengthened my knowledge and understanding of working in teams, communication skills, and the ability to work independently on assigned projects. I participated in projects to cut costs and to improve the efficiency of internal systems and also communicated with suppliers and outside processors. Through the classes that I have taken a xx and my experience at xx, I am capable in working with computer programs such as Excel and multi organizational ERP systems. I may not be the loudest voice in the room, but I make up for that with behind the scenes dedication and a constant and persistent work ethic. I am able to think creatively and enjoy puzzles and projects that require a new way of thinking and working in order to solve a problem. I am personable, which allows peers and potential clients to trust me and consider me reliable and capable. My positive attitude, competitive drive, and ability to connect without overshadowing others has allowed me to be a successful college student, reliable friend, and a conscientious coworker.
