Sample cover letter for Full Time position at GSOM

Dear Sir or Madam,

With this letter I wish to state my motivation and to apply for entrance to the St. Petersburg University GSOM’s Master in Management Program. The above mentioned program can be a considerate step towards my career as a future manager. I have chosen this program for the following reasons: first of all, it has a practice- oriented curriculum structure, which is extremely essential for any future specialist. I believe that this will give me an opportunity to gain a profound knowledge in the domain. Furthermore, the program structure corresponds with my expectations of an effective master program as it develops not only research competences and soft skills, but also gives a real life experience. Thirdly, I am interested in Concentrations in International Business due to the fact that I show curiosity in cross-cultural management, which was one of my specializations during Bachelor studies and I had a great interest in the course of “International Entrepreneurship” and “Cultural Differences in Business Communication”.

This year I graduated from Moscow National Research University Higher School of Economics, the faculty of World Economy and International Affairs with specialization in Economics. My studies had a focus on the global economy, international relations, and oriental studies and gave me a proficiency in two foreign languages. My second foreign language is French, an upper intermediate level of which is proved by the certificate of Paris Chamber of Commerce. During my Bachelor program I studied International Marketing and “Current Issues of International Business”, knowledge of which subjects will be helpful in my future Master studies in the context of International Business Concentration. Moreover, understanding of economic processes which I obtained during last four years will undoubtedly make me more competitive as a future specialist in Management.

Apart from my studies I had a 3 months long internship abroad in Intercontinental Trust Ltd (Mauritius) licensed by the Mauritius Financial Services Commission to provide a comprehensive range of financial and fiduciary services to international businesses, I had my traineeship in Business Development department, my main responsibilities were interaction with the companies to obtain data, visualisation of data for corporate presentations and reporting, these skill will be essential in my Master studies during the research seminars. Overall, this experience was very beneficial for me and helped me not only to enrich my knowledge but also to train English speaking skills and to get used to the company’s corporate culture.

I realize that the program I am applying for attracts a lot of highly motivated students, however, I believe that my experience and knowledge make me competitive among the candidates.
