Sample cover letter for Internship position at Goldman Sachs

POSITION:

Technology Analyst

I am Uzor Uche Vivian, a highly receptive and motivated student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science at Covenant University, Nigeria. I am interested in the Summer Internship position in the Technology Division at Goldman Sachs. I believe this internship will give me the opportunity to share of the widely reputed Goldman Sachs experience and ultimately launch a long term career with Goldman Sachs.
As a Computer Science student, I’ve learned to think analytically and pay attention to detail to solve complex problems and create easy-to-use interactive software. I have experience in various programming languages (including Python, C++), plus significant experience in the design, development of websites (HTML5, CSS, PHP). I also possess a working understanding of Database Development and Management (MS-SQL Server). In addition to my technical skills, I possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, and I recognize the importance of these when it comes to communicating with other team members, management and clients. My time management and task prioritization skills are excellent, and I enjoy working with an enthusiastic team who are keen to exceed company expectations. I believe that my experience and practical knowledge combined with my passion for programming will enable me excel in the technology division at Goldman Sachs.
My interest in Technology developed when I became interested in the internet. I loved doing research to educate myself further which eventually led to learning how to design Graphics, User Interfaces and coding websites using web-based languages. I created websites where users could download free software as well as resources (textures, backgrounds, patterns) for designing graphics in PHOTOSHOP, for this, I got recognition from my school authorities and I was made ICT prefect. I got more interested in hardcore programming when mobile applications became popular, so I decided to study Computer Science to specialize in software development. My goal is to continue learning and developing my expertise in my future role.
My interest in finance sparked when I participated in The Refinery, an invitation only training program designed in identifying and training high caliber young people for opportunities in the finance sector. I developed technical skills like financial modeling as well as soft skills like communication and presentation.
I believe that my attributes coupled with my technical experience make me an ideal candidate for the Summer Internship position. Interning at Goldman Sachs would also provide required exposure I need to thrive in my areas of expertise.
Thank you for your kind consideration.
