Sample cover letter for Internship position at Goldman Sachs

POSITION:

Marketing Summer Internship

Dear Hiring Manager:

After reviewing the marketing manager position you posted, I feel that I am the person that perfectly meets your requirements. You are looking for a person with strong numerical and analytical skills, an understanding of customers and the market, and excellent face-to-face communication skills. My work and experiences have shaped me to be an ideal employee for the position of Marketing Manager at Hobbico – Chicago.

While I was working in the military for almost 2 years, I had many opportunities to work on my numerical and analytical skill sets including the ability to interpret quantitative data as an accountant. For example, in order to manage the annual budget of our base, I had to keep track of the cash flow. Then, on a monthly basis, I analyzed the numerical data to keep the correct balance. Because of my detail-oriented personality, I never erred in analyzing accumulated numerical data and as a result, I was one of only 10% of the military accountants who never made a wrong calculation in the military base. From this experience and my personality, I have a strong ability to interpret quantitative data, a skill that Hobbico is looking for.

As a leader of the activity group in the Korean chapter, I had many chances to contact people. I had many opportunities to talk with and survey the members about what they desired from the activities. These practices led me to understand and figure out what people want. Doing so helped me to be successful in meeting their expectations. Because of these practices, I know how to approach people and how to interact well. Because of this experience, I am able to understand customer needs and market demands.

When I was working as a volunteer in Daejeon Seongmo Senior Hospital in Korea, I often had to interact face-to-face with elders who are ill. For some of them, I had to be a friend by listening to them, while for others; I had to help them by talking to them. For example, I helped the physically ill elders to eat their food, the mentally ill seniors by listening and talking to them, and the emotionally ill, by being a friend. I believe this greatly helped me to be an excellent face-to-face communicator, which is a trait that Hobbico strongly desires.

For further review, my resume contains a more specific description of my work, educational experience, and my volunteer activities. I appreciate your time and if you need further information, please contact me via email at******@******or by phone at 000-000-000 I look forward to meeting you in an interview at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,
