Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Google

POSITION:

Marketing Analyst

I would like to be considered for the position of Quantitative Marketing Analyst in Google. I strongly believe that I am a good candidate for Google due to my analytical mindset coupled with my ability to structure problems and deliver solutions.

I have always been fascinated by data analysis and business. This passion soon started when I was living in Hungary, working in the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in a Data Mining project along with PhD students. Delving into data by means of analytical tools such as RapidMiner and Minitab I developed a purchasing intent forecasting model and a customer segmentation. In my role as a forecaster, I understood that the accuracy of my outcome was critical so as to maximize the operating profit of the companies. After finishing that project, I still felt anxious to apply my analytical methods and problem solving skills to business case scenarios. For this reason, I got involved in several projects at my home university, most importantly the “Production Plan Forecasting of a Retail Manufacturer” and the “Analysis of the Serviceability of a Petrol Station”, which particularly enhanced my data modelling skills. As I discovered the power of data analysis to improve the companies’ operations I discovered I wanted to expand my knowledge of supply chain and logistics. For this reason, I pursued the double master degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations. This last year of studies have given me the knowledge of the supply chain issues that companies are currently facing. In a competition among more than 20 universities of Chicago I was honored with the third prize for my survey “Disruptive technologies in the last mile logistics”. In the essay, I assessed a new phenomenon of last mile delivery- crowdshipping- a solution that not only improves the profitability of the company’s fleet but also enhances the quality of life of society. Google is without doubt the most well-known technology company in the world, a global leader in positively impacting society with disruptive applications and technology. In fact, this aim of making the world better along with its creative and innovative corporate culture is what I value the most from Google.

My deep interest in logistics and supply chain was enhanced while I was working as intern in a global HVAC systems provider, Soler&Palau. As a member of the supply chain department, I acquired hand-on expertise in developing models to assess the productivity of the internal operations. In my most recent work experience, in spring 2015, I had the exceptional opportunity to work for Accenture Consulting. In my role as a business analyst, I helped my team in proving data-driven recommendations to a leading grocery corporation. Leveraging statistical software and analytical tools such as MS Excel, I developed a model for the reestablishment of 1000+ products. In the short but intense six months, I learnt to understand the issues of the clients and address them with a logically reasoned, data-supported approach that would overpass their standards of quality.

Because of my previous working experiences and skills acquired, I am absolutely positive that I will fit in Google and meet the expectations. Thanks to have studied this last year in the US, I obtained a visa that allows me to work for three years. I am truly motivated with the possibility of enrolling and I would truly appreciate the opportunity to meet you and discuss my qualifications for this position.
