Sample cover letter for Internship position at Governance Lab

POSITION:

Web Assistant

Greetings Hiring Manager,

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to express my interest in the student web assistant position at the Governance Lab. I am currently pursuing my M.S. in Electrical Engineering at New York University, which I will be finishing in January 2017. I believe that the social insight gained through my research in improving crowdsource platforms as well as my experiences in web development makes me a viable candidate for the position.

During the fall semester, I, along with a partner, created an audio visualizer web application which was hosted using Github pages. The website extensively leveraged the web audio API and JavaScript to visualizes audio and apply audio effects such as reverb and distortion. Time was spent collectively designing the layout of the website with HTML and CSS in order to maximize ease of use and aesthetics. Each member had a local repository of the application and changes to the website were managed with Git. The project required quickly learning new technologies and integrating various libraries as needed.

With my experiences in web development as well as my ability collaborate with a team, I believe that I have the capability to be an effective web assistant. Thank you for taking the time to view my application and I would love to speak with you more about my relevant experience for the position. I can be contacted with the information at the top of the page.

Sincerely,
