I am interested in applying for the position as a laboratory assistant as advertised on the ___ website. As a second year undergraduate student majoring in the sciences, this would present a great opportunity to gain lab experience with exposure to different fields.
During the two years I’ve been at University of ___, I have gained experience in many different laboratory settings (of which include cellular and molecular biology, ecological/environmental biology, and organic chemistry). I have also gained knowledge of important statistical and quantitative methods, applying experimental and data analysis skills, setting up the necessary pre-laboratory preparation, and performing laboratory techniques with an understanding of the principles of laboratory safety; all of which would be relevant for this position. Through volunteering for a department lab, I have familiarity with the importance of collaboration with other members involved as well as the responsibilities and maturity required in order to do work independently.
