I am interested in applying for the part-time frontline service assistant position. I found this ad on your human resources department website under student careers.

I am currently a student attending the University of Toronto St. George campus. At this moment, I am majoring in sexualities and diversities, and history; and minoring in political science (mainly politics of development and society). The lessons I constantly learn from my program helps me gain interpersonal and social skills. As a University of Toronto student I have great organization skills, computer skills, and I know how to stay on task. As a university student in the Sexualities and Diversities program, I am dedicated to equity, and making services accessible for students who may find it hard to navigate around campus. I do this by being able to participate in events, and join co-curricular groups where I can meet new people in different programs.

The three years that I spent in the fashion industry have made me capable of performing advanced duties of a fashion assistant. During my work at YaYa & Co., and Wal-Mart, I was responsible for selecting fabrics, supervising sales and production, coordinating workers in pattern cutting activities, identifying target markets and changing trends and creating liaison with customers and representatives. My experience also boasts of organizing ramp shows by bringing together the necessary elements; models, flyers, clothes, accessories, venue and payments.

My skills will be beneficial towards this position because I will be able to manage time wisely, clean designated areas while assisting customers, and helping fellow associates. One of my strengths that can be of useful is my patience. In order to possess patience, you must have good communication skills, have empathy for customer concerns, and resolve issues with politeness. Also I am able to work effectively in a hectic fast paced environment. I enjoy working in a fast pace environment, and enjoy the role of being a team player, and taking a leadership role.

Furthermore, I am a very hard worker and able to work well with other employees. I enjoy contributing to groups projects, because I see them as outlets of social creativity. My past experience as a cashier, and sales associate is a very valuable asset for the frontline service assistant position. But most importantly, the volunteer work that I am currently doing at the Toronto People’s With AIDS organization is valuable for this position because I have experience with attending to clients’ needs of diverse backgrounds. I am able to fill out tasks such as retrieving data and performing ethical surveys; and reimbursing clients’ medications according to trillium guidelines.
