Question 1:
Anything complicated really fascinates me: math,
computers, foreign languages, music …etc. I particularly like chess,
something about the game just impresses me, I think because of the different
types of pieces with each having its own type of motion, and the great depth of
complexity and cleverness involved, which is evidenced by how long players would study the position before
moving. I believe Chess has greatly improved my analyzing skills, focus
and memory.
I also find great pleasure observing and studying people including myself. Body
language, eyeball movements, smiles, voice tones etc. Each of those is an
entire world in itself with its own internal rules and emergent heuristics.I like sports as well, football in
particular. Let alone all health reasons, the best thing about football, I
think, is the strong sense of cooperation you have in a team when you’re
walking together towards the goal. You don’t need to be the best player to be
part of the game.
Question 2:
I’m most proud that at an early age, I already knew what I want out of life. Gaining international experience and getting into the world of business in order to build a consulting firm in my home country.
I have eschewed getting into the professional world in order to spend additional years in the academic field. I’ve learnt about financial independence: while at engineering school I was able to finance my own life providing private tutoring for high school and preparatory classes students in Math and English.
Even though externally I may appear to be “behind” my friends and others my age on the "ladder of success”, being 23 and still planning to attend a 2-to-3 years program, I consider myself to be way ahead on the long-term scale.
I know what I want out of life and am working towards it. That for me, at 22 years old, is something I am incredibly proud of.
