Sample cover letter for Internship position at HP

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am a third year student studying mechanical engineering with specialization in mechatronics at NTU and looking for an internship in HP. I am extremely interested in the field of data modeling, simulation and automation and I believe I have the right skills to excel in the internship program.

I am a fast learner who is able to adapt and respond to varied situations quick. As an undergrad researcher at NTU working on predictive modeling for traffic system, I picked up MATLAB and excel skills quick and was able to build simulations in few months. Eventually, I was able to co-author a research paper which was published and ranked in the top 10 in its field in Asia Pacific.

My ability as a leader at various clubs at the school and university level has also helped me to develop strong organizational and communication skills. My past internship in the business development had further helped me to further test these skills in a professional arena as I was able to make a deal with a valuable client in Australia.

I hope to leverage my diversity of skills and experience to excel at the internship and add value to HP.
