Sample cover letter for Internship position at HSBC

POSITION:

Summer Apprenticeship

To Whom It May Concern,

I am a sophomore at Georgetown University currently majoring in economics with a minor in mathematics. I am writing to apply for the Consulting Analyst Intern position at Accenture this summer. After attending Accenture’s information session at Georgetown, I was extremely impressed by the firm’s unique nature in having the ability to form diverse teams to tackle all the problems a client may have. As a Consulting Analyst Intern at Accenture, I may have the opportunity to meet and work with a variety of people in various areas of consulting as well as other important outside disciplines. In particular, I value the amount of attention and dedication that Accenture puts into working with its clients, not only by devising effective strategies to address the clients’ problems, but also by often implementing the recommendations on-site.

My interest in consulting originates from my internship with the Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam – Vietcombank the summer after high school graduation. Throughout the course of the internship, I had the chance to deliver presentations on strategic analysis and potential investments to Board members and senior executives of prospective investment targets. I learned a great deal about communicating highly technical analysis to business people, which I believe is extremely important in the field of consulting. Fully immersed in an industrial setting, I enjoyed the analytical, goal-oriented approach in solving day-to-day problems and working in a dynamic, multifunctional environment.

In the past two years, I have been also involved in serving as program administrator for the Georgetown University International Relational Club and as a project head for the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications sector of Georgetown Collegiate Investors, an investment club on campus. This summer, I interned at the Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam where I had the opportunity to prepare reports and presentations of findings for senior government officials, global business leaders, and international press. My seven-member team also organized events for General Secretary of Vietnam’s official visit to the United States as well as activities for the “Vietnam Days in Kanagawa, Japan.” Through my management of recruitment and interviews, I obtained primary research and analyzed it on national and regional levels to recommend and help implement improvements in the department’s overall report. I also co-authored and conducted an independent thesis on the topic of “Challenges and Opportunities of the Vietnamese economy” in the face of the new open era after Vietnam successfully signed the Trans-Pacific Partnership in October 2015. Most importantly, I learned how to work in a deadline-oriented environment, held responsibility for large segments of a team project, and enhanced my quantitative skills through analysis of primary and secondary research data. I am confident that I can bring my strong, diverse technical and business background to best fit the current needs and future ventures of Accenture.

I welcome the opportunity to speak with you about my qualifications and ways that I can contribute to Accenture. Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
