Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Highline Wealth Management

POSITION:

Wealth Management Analyst

GOT THE JOB? Yes

November 14, 2012

1325 18th Street NW
Washington, DC 20036

Dear Mr.:

It is with great enthusiasm that I am writing to apply for the internship position at Highline Wealth Management this semester. The most prominent appeal of this internship is the opportunity to continue acquainting myself with the financial services industry at a boutique advisory firm that focuses on quality and exclusivity rather than at a large bulge bracket brokerage as I have in the past. I consider that my resourceful character, past experience and interests match with your requirements and hope to be considered for the position.

Presently I am enrolled as a senior undergraduate student at the George Washington University, majoring in Economics and Finance. I have completed and excelled in various courses from an extensive breadth of academic fields including but not limited to accounting, finance, statistics and business administration, and the field of economics has afforded me a substantively analytical foundation.

For the past year I have enjoyed employment at Merrill Lynch in two separate capacities, initially as a global wealth management intern and then as a summer analyst for the Global Wealth & Investment Management Division. Both experiences tightly focused on portfolio management, retirement planning, and client relationship management. I assisted in equity and industry analysis, consolidating this research into comprehensive spreadsheets for client distribution, and drew conclusions utilizing Bloomberg, Thomson Financial and other external resources. I also prepared and assembled portfolio review reports for client meetings, including asset allocation and performance evaluation for investment selection in 529 plans and annuities. Additionally, last summer I worked as an accounting assistant at a global student exchange consortium, an exciting experience that allowed me to integrate myself into a worldwide network of over 300 higher education institutions in fifty different countries while simultaneously performing commonplace assistant tasks to relieve management of administrative detail such as processing and filing payments, improving and tightening storage and retrieval databases, and handling all phone and e-mail inquiries within my capacity.

At this juncture I am seeking a new opportunity where I can apply the above-mentioned skills and add value to another organization. My résumé is attached for your review and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Sincerely,
