Sample cover letter for Full Time position at Human rights watch

POSITION:

assistant

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for an internship with Human Rights Watch in Washington DC.

As you will see in my resume, I do believe there is a strong match between my qualifications and your position requirements and I welcome the chance to use my skills and training to promote your organization’s missions and objectives.

I have 2 years of post-graduate work experience with a MENA region focused non-profit organization here in Washington DC by the name of Freedom House. My work experience at this organization has enabled me to learn better the notion of women entrepreneurship and women’s leadership in the Middle East. This experience includes both interacting with and working in the field of women’s leadership. First, as a secretary of the board I was responsible of finding grant sources from domestic and international donors, and conducting inquiries and proposals. Second, I helped the organization obtain a USAID grant for a series of women’s leadership workshops in Istanbul. Throughout this process, I took every opportunity to author grant requests and attend events to meet with USAID officers. Third, the workshops conducted in Istanbul, were an excellent opportunity for me to further develop and demonstrate my management skills. Organizing these workshops required considerable organization and coordination skills between the local partners and diverse instructors for each of the tracks. Since I was in charge of selecting participants for these workshops, I had the chance to interact with Middle Eastern women directly and to understand their barriers in their public and private lives.

In addition to my work at FH, I am also pursuing my master’s degree in public administration with focus on public and non-profit management at the University of Baltimore.

I think my work experience, academic background, fluency in both English and Arabic as well my background, having lived in both the USA and Qatar, uniquely qualify me for this internship.
