Having written about the harms caused by “ag-gag” bills and the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, I know the legislative threats to fundamental rights and animal welfare are not to be taken lightly. I would enjoy collaborating with Humane Society’s partners to persuade lawmakers at all levels of government to adopt strong protections that prevent or curb animal-cruelty (and to seize other legislative opportunities, such as passing the bipartisan HEART Act).A quick scan of my resume will show my extensive record of engaging elected officials and media on issues as diverse as expanding natural spaces in urban areas to protecting humanitarian access to civilians in conflict zones.

At my current organization, I have played a central role in developing and implementing its advocacy agenda.Along with drafting legislative language, I organize grassroots advocacy initiatives, like petitions and talking points for citizen advocates to use at public hearings, to demonstrate to lawmakers the widespread support for our policies. In a few weeks, I am exciting to share, my organization anticipates the DC Council will vote to approve legislation that our volunteers have worked tirelessly to help pass.
