To the Human Resource Manager,
RE: APPLCIATION FOR ASSOCIATE INVESTMENT OFFICER - SCALING SOLAR PROGRAM (Job ID: 161656)
I hereby would like to apply for the position of Associate Investment Officer, Scaling Solar Program advertised on World Bank website http://web.worldbank.org. The detail of the jobs’ Duties and Accountabilities as well as the required skill set perfectly defines my career, prompting my interest to work with renewable energy and agribusiness departments of World Bank, IBRD and IDA.
At Kakira Sugar Limited, the use of bagasse to produce 32MW of electricity daily and also have the capacity to generate up to 50MW per day where the surplus is sold to the government. I was involved in the GetFIT project for a World Bank energy grant of USD$10 million for the renewable energy sector. While working with Farm as a Business Manager, I was able to link between agriculture and renewable energy for business sustainability development. I was part of the implementation team where I oversaw and also managed the monetary investment in construction and experiencing the impact of the project. The first project was biogas; the use of animal manure to generate clean energy (USD$1000) and promoted by Heifer International and Send a Cow enterprises. This project aimed at accessing clean energy for cooking and lighting and also as an income generator. The second project was implementation of a personal solar system on a main house within a rural setting (USD$2300). Given the fact that hydro-electricity is expensive and rates continue increasing every after new financial year, solar plays a part in reducing costs especially for security lights that are left on for almost 12 hours to reduce on the risks of security at night. By combining and working with the two platforms of agriculture and renewable energy, one can see the full potential of investing in both areas to reduce on future costs caused by demand and pull factors
I have MBA degree with my thesis focusing on renewable energy in Uganda and Bachelor degree in Business Information Technology. I have a combination of 10 years in computer hardware support, agribusiness management, research and analysis experience both locally in Uganda and internationally. At the moment, I work with United Nations Operations in Cote d’Ivoire (UNOCI) as a Finance and Budget Assistant where I monitor and coordinate with other departments on budgets, availability of funds, creation of earmark funds and purchasing orders using SAP/Umoja.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours Sincerely,
