The opportunity to work in an environment that allow use of skills in a way to create value and impact on the wider global community is a privilege to have in one’s career. I desire to endeavour a career path that gives me a platform to get involved in finding constructive solutions to some of the world’s critical challenges and work towards creating positive impact through my skills. With its agenda to develop the private sector around the world through innovative financing solutions in order to achieve the global development agenda, I believe working with IFC reflects the opportunity I am looking forward to.

Besides financing, a critical aspect of the arrangement involved mitigation of environmental and social risks to ensure positive impact on wider group of stakeholders. A significant learning from this experience was how a sustainable financing structure can ensure economic as well as social benefits. The success of this model was soon replicated in a number of private and public private partnership projects, enabling the country to considerably improve in power sector. I draw my inspiration through this experience from the opportunity to learn, the challenge involved in constructively working with new solutions toward critical problems, and the impact such efforts can create on businesses, communities and the wider economy.

I firmly believe in IFC’s model of global engagement to facilitate and sustainably develop the private sector in order to eradicate extreme poverty and achieve shared prosperity. From my experience, I believe such engagement can significantly make a difference in lives of people in developing countries and create sustainable positive impact on their economies. Such impacts are very evident in Bangladesh from various projects of IFC for instance, financing the first independent power plant, introduction of private equity and venture capital, introducing SME focused banks, investments in telecommunication sector, cleaner production initiatives and lighting Bangladesh project to name a few. What motivates me to apply for this role at IFC is the opportunity to work in an environment that strives to provide creative solution to critical issues of developing world and be a part of the impact it creates on the lives of people globally.
